GAINESVILLE, Fla.—Grassroots Motorsports will bring the $2,000 Challenge presented by CRC Industries to Gainesville Raceway on October 25-26. The event will feature drag racing where the net cost of the challenge cars must be equal to or less than $2,000. Additionally, the purchase price of the vehicle cannot top $2,000.

The Grassroots Motorsports $2,000 Challenge presented by CRC Industries sets the stage for some of the most spectacular budget builds you’ve ever seen. The event features 9-second quarter-mile times and cars that could dominate your local autocross, each built on a $2,000 budget. Prizes for the event include a Millermatic® 211 MIG Welder, with the rest of the field getting trophies from CRC Industries, Copart, and White Pony Absorbent Products

Before October 7: $195
October 7-16: $225
October 16-23: $255
After October 23: $295

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25

7:00 a.m. – Track gates open
8:00 a.m. – Autocross course open for walking
8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Registration near paddock
8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Tech inspection near paddock (look for tech inspection feather flag)
8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Race fuel available at track fuel pump
9:00 a.m. – Mandatory drivers’ meeting
9:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – $2000 Challenge autocross
5:00 p.m. – Sonny’s BBQ dinner in track pavilion
6:00 p.m. – $2000 Challenge drag racing begins. Left lane only open to slick-tire cars for first hour of drag racing.
7:00 p.m. – Exhibition drag racing by Big Daddy Don Garlits
7:00 p.m. – Both lanes open to all cars.
9:00 p.m. – or when staging lanes remain empty for 15 minutes- $2000 Challenge drag racing ends.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26

8:00 a.m. – Track gates open
9:00 a.m. – Track opens
9:00 a.m. – Concourse pavilion opens
10:00 a.m. – Concourse judging begins
12:00 p.m. – Lunchtime! There’s no formal lunch break, but you’ll have plenty of free time to relax and enjoy a trackside meal. The track concession stand will be open, or grilling is allowed (and highly recommended) at the concurs.
1:00 p.m. – Valve Cover racing in pavilion  
2:00 p.m. – Judging ends
2:30 p.m. – Competitor town hall meeting in track pavilion
7:00 p.m. – Awards banquet in Springhills ballroom at host hotel
