JDRL at GAINESVILLE RACEWAY
If you haven’t seen a Junior Dragster, then you haven’t seen the future of NHRA Drag Racing! Starting with a man and a vision for his kids, Vince Napp constructed a half-saclae dragster for his kids in 19991. His vision blossomed and in 1992 combined forces with the NHRA to start the Junior Drag Racing League (JDRL). For the past 33 years, the JDRL has produced some of the biggest names in the sport including Erica Enders, Leah Pruett, J.R. Todd, Gaige Herrera, Shawn Langdon, Justin Ashley, and more!
The NHRA Summit Racing JR. Drag Racing League is designed to offer kids aged 6-17 a chance to race half-scale dragsters in a controlled environment. Using a five-horsepower, single cylinder engine, a Jr. Dragster can go as fast as 85mph and as quick as 7.90 second in an 1/8th mile.
JDRL competitions at Gainesville Raceway take place during every Scorpion Racing Products E.T. Bracket Series weekend. We offer four age groups of racing with 6-7, 8-9, and 10-12 year olds participating in our FB Trailers JR. Minor classes & 13-17 year olds participating in our FB Trailers JR. Major class.
